Run location: Erica State Forest, Baw Baw National Park
Run distance: 40km (1200m elevation), 21km short course
Arrive back in Melbourne: approx 8:00pm-9:00pm
Fitness pre-requisites and pace group guidance: Easy (approx 2 hours-2 hour 30 min half marathon) Medium (Sub 2 hour half marathon), Hard (sub 1 hour 40 min half marathon)

Trail Difficulty:  The Full course summary: This trail contains sections of high level of technical difficulty which will extend the run time and endurance needs, is of a distance  longer than usual and average elevation. We class this tour a 4 out 5 degree of difficulty.

Come with us on a Gippsland group trail running adventure through Erica State Forest and Baw Baw National Park, as we follow winding rivers, between the carved, steep forested slopes. Our run take us through the historic mining and logging areas on stunning, green immersive single trail, overgrown rail trials, river and creek crossings, steep climbs, switch backs, river lookouts, cascades. This tour has it all.

Our Erica Megaloop is a 40km, 1200m Elevation circuit run or a 21km short course option. With breaks the full run should take approximately 7 1/2 to 8 hrs to complete. There is a lot to take in, you won’t regret it.

Starting and finishing in the Erica township, Our tour takes in:

We have something for everyone on this run which will be lead by our experienced trail running, fun loving tour guides, who lead a variety of ability pace groups.


Our bus will stop for coffee and food enroute and post run we will grab some local food and drink in Moe, before returning to Melbourne.

What to bring-

    • A minimum of 2 litres of water to carry (aid station with water refills at 21km)
    • Good condition trail shoes for muddy, wet trails and creek crossings
    • Suitable running sports wear to suit the weather
    • Enough snacks/food to last you your time out on course
    • Any emergency medications you may need
    • A charged headlamp

For those purchasing a Trail bus ticket. The bus will leave 5:30am from the main entrance to the NGV on St Kilda Rd.  Please make sure you ad the Bus transfer product to your cart.


Please note: The return to city transfer will not leave until all runners have returned from all distances. Once picking up our short course runners and dropping those back to their vehicles, the Trail Bus will take runners on a tourist drive to Horseshoe Bend Tunnel, Thomson Historic Rail Station and Walhalla Township time permitting, before returning to our run start/finish location in Erica.

We strongly recommend having air ambulance cover for this run and all trail runs, due to costs and difficulty for access in these remote terrains.
