Lorne Megaloop Trail run 26th May 2019


When: Sunday 26th May 2019
For Transfers : Pick up and Drop off point: 5:45 am St Kilda Rd at the front of the NGV entrance (National Gallery of Victoria). Please purchase the bus transfer product.
Run start time:  8:00am From the front of Lorne Central, 150 Mountjoy Parade, Lorne VIC 3232.
Run location: Lorne (Otway Ranges)
Run distance: course options 9km (1 and half hours) , 15km ( 2 and a half hours), 33km (5-6 hours).
Arrive back in Melbourne: approx 6:00pm-7:00pm
Fitness pre-requisites and pace group guidance: Easy (approx 2 hours-2 hour 30 min half marathon) Medium (Sub 2 hour half marathon), Hard (sub 1 hour 40 min half marathon)

Come with us on a group trail running adventure through the beautiful, picturesque Great Otway National Park. Nestled behind the contemporary, coastal, surf coast holiday town of Lorne lays a lush, dense, green adventure playground. The environment is totally immersive as the gorges and rainforest that swallow you whole, whilst you negotiate multiple creek crossings and take in the never ending cascading waterfalls.  We have designed 3 different length options that all start from the Lorne Beachfront to enable all different abilities to experience our run.

Our route includes a combination of technical single tracks, access tracks, walking tracks,  switchbacks, ascents and descents all winding through the breath taking, immersive cool, temperate Otway rainforests.

We have something for everyone on this run which will be lead by our experienced trail running, fun loving tour guides, who lead a variety of ability pace groups.
We will spend approximately 5-7 hours (pace group dependent) out running and hiking with a series of short breaks and regroups, before returning to our start point on the Lorne beachfront.

What to bring-

    • A minimum of 2 litres of water to carry
    • Good condition trail shoes
    • suitable running sports wear to suit the weather
    • Enough snacks/food to last you your time out on course
    • Any emergency medications you may need

Distances available:

  • 33km (full loop)
  • 15km (from start to Phantom Falls with pick up and return to start)
  • 9km (from start to Sheoak Picnic Area with pick up and return to start)

If you would like the city bus transfer please ensure you add the bus transfer product to your cart.

Please note: the return to city transfer will not leave until all runners have returned from all runs. This means a short course transfer will have wait in Lorne until the long course is complete. All short courses are picked up and returned to the start point to await the return of the long course. We advise taking some time to spend enjoying the beauty of Lorne and if you are brave enough a cool refreshing recovery dip in the ocean. There are beach showers located at the beachfront toilet block.


We strongly recommend having air ambulance cover for this run and all trail runs, due to costs and difficult of access in the remote terrains.
