For Transfers : Pick up and Drop off point: 6:00 am St Kilda Rd at the front of the NGV entrance (National Gallery of Victoria). Please purchase the bus transfer product.
Run start time:  8:00am start at The Murrindindi Scenic Reserve Toilet block, Murrindindi Rd, Murrindindi VIC 3717. Enter via Banbury Rd then Wilhelmina Falls Rd
Run location: Toolangi – Murrindindi Scenic Reserve
Run distance: course options, 26km  (1169m Elevation). 13km.
Arrive back in Melbourne: approx 5:00pm-6:00pm
Fitness pre-requisites and pace group guidance: Easy (approx 2 hours-2 hour 30 min half marathon) Medium (Sub 2 hour half marathon), Hard (sub 1 hour 40 min half marathon)

Trail Difficulty: The 26km Tour is a Grade 4 Trail. As per the Australian Walking Track Grading System.

Come with us on a group trail running adventure through the Northern end of Toolangi State forest and Murrindindi Scenic Reserve.

This trail follows the winding Murrindindi river taking in waterfalls and cascades at our regroup locations, before we start the challenging climb to Mt Despair summit and descend back to our starting point at Suspension Bridge Picnic area.

Our Murrindindi Circuit is a 26km , 1169m Elevation circuit run. With breaks this run should take approximately 5 1/2 – 6 hrs to complete.

Short course options is 13km.

Starting and finishing at the Murrindindi Picnic Area, Our tour takes in:

  • Murrindini River
  • Falls Creek
  • Mt Despair Summit
  • Wilhelmina Falls
  • Wilhelmina Falls suspension bridge
  • Murrindindi Cascades

We have something for everyone on this run which will be lead by our experienced trail running, fun loving tour guides, who lead a variety of ability pace groups.


Our bus will stop for coffee and food enroute and post run we will grab some local food and drink at Dixons Creek Cafe Bar & Grill, 1925 Melba Hwy, Dixons Creek VIC 3775, before returning to Melbourne.

What to bring-

    • A minimum of 2 litres of water to carry
    • Good condition trail shoes
    • suitable running sports wear to suit the weather
    • Enough snacks/food to last you your time out on course

For those purchasing a Trail bus ticket. The bus will leave 6:00am from the main entrance to the NGV on St Kilda Rd.  Please make sure you ad the Bus transfer product to your cart.


Please note: the return to city transfer will not leave until all runners have returned from all runs. This means the short course runners can remain with the trail bus supporting the other runners or enjoy and relax by the river at our start and finish point.

We strongly recommend having air ambulance cover for this run and all trail runs, due to costs and difficult of access in the remote terrains.
