Come with us on a group trail running adventure in the northern end of Toolangi State forest through Murrindindi Scenic Reserve.
This trail starts with a challenging 5km 600m climb up Mt Despair summit before descending the southern face to our 13km aid station and short course finish point. We continue our run along winding single track following the Murrindindi river taking in the waterfalls and cascades before ending at our start point at the Suspension Bridge Picnic area on the river where there is the option to hop in and cool off.
Our Murrindindi Tour is a 28km 1200m Elevation circuit run, or a 13km 720m point to point. With breaks this run should take approximately 5 and a half hours hrs to complete.
Starting and finishing at the Murrindindi Scenic Reserve Picnic Area, Our tour takes in:
- Murrindini River
- Falls Creek
- Mt Despair Summit
- Wilhelmina Falls
- Wilhelmina Falls suspension bridge
- Murrindindi Cascades
We have something for everyone on this run which will be lead by our experienced trail running, fun loving tour guides, who will be there to support you running your own pace.
Distances available:
- 28km (full loop) 1200m elevation gain.
- 13km, 720m elevation gain. Please meet us for your car drop at Cascades Picnic Area, Murrindindi Rd at 7:40am and we will bring you back to our starting point.
The bus will leave at 6:00am from our pick up and drop off point from the tourist bus bays on St Kilda rd opposite Hamer Hall and the State Theatre.
Our bus will stop for coffee and food enroute (Mcdonalds Croydon, Marrondah Hwy). Post run we will grab some local food and drink at the Yarra Glen cafe. (menu here) on our return to Melbourne.
For our 13km options, please meet us for your car drop at Cascades Picnic Area, Murrindindi Rd at 7:40am and we will bring you back to our starting point.
For those meeting us out there for the 28km distance please meet us for an 8:00am start at The Murrindindi Scenic Reserve day visitors area, Murrindindi Rd, Murrindindi VIC 3717. Enter via Banbury Rd then Wilhelmina Falls Rd.
What to bring:
A 600ml hand held bottle or borrow one of ours
Good condition trail running shoes
Running sports wear to suit the weather
Any emergency medications you may need
A towel and change of clothes if you want to have a dip in the river
What your guides will cover:
13km aid station with chips, fruit, lollies, coke and water
Navigation and tour flagging
Free gear hire, vests, hiking poles, rain jackets and hydration bottles/bladders

Customer first aid response (all guides first aid trained and carry first aid kits, with further first aid supplies in van)
Regroups and head counts
Radio comms and group coordination
Emergency response via mobile phones, satellite phones and personal locator beacons

We strongly recommend having air ambulance cover for this run and all trail runs, due to costs and difficult of access in the remote terrains.
