6:00am from the tourist bus bays on St Kilda rd opposite Hamer Hall and the State Theatre.
6:10am from the Ampol Service Station, 286 Johnston St, Abbotsford VIC 3067
6:30am from Ringwood Station. In the parking bays opposite First Church Of Christ Scientist Ringwood 26 Station St, Ringwood VIC 3134.

Run location: Sweetwater Creek Nature Conservation Reserve, West Gippsland
Travel time: 2 hours (with coffee and food stop)
Arrive back in Melbourne: 5:00pm
Fitness pre-requisites: 12km= a minimum 10km run in the past month. 24km= a minimum 10km run in the past month.

Sweetwater Creek Nature Reserve offers an extensive network of trails that wind their way through diverse landscapes, providing runners with a unique and immersive experience as you meander through the lush forests, tranquil wetlands, and alongside the crystal-clear waters of the creek itself. As you embark on your adventure, you’ll be surrounded by towering eucalyptus trees, their canopy providing shade and a sense of tranquility. The diverse flora in the reserve includes native ferns, vibrant wildflowers, and ancient moss-covered rocks, creating a visual feast for nature enthusiasts.

What to bring:

  • Water containment for 1 litre or borrow ours
  • Good condition trail running shoes (aggressive/muddy)
  • Running sports wear to suit the weather (a weather update will be sent closer to the tour day)
  • Any emergency medications you may need
  • A change of clothes

 The bus will leave at 6:00am from tourist bus bays on St Kilda rd opposite Hamer Hall and the State Theatre. Free weekend parking is available on Birdwood avenue around The Botanical Gardens and along Sturt and Wells streets in Southbank. It is a 5 minute walk to the bus pick up point. We will stop for toilets, coffee and food on our way there and back.

Victoria Park Station pick up is 6:10am from the Ampol Service Station, 286 Johnston St, Abbotsford VIC 3067

Ringwood Station pick up is 6:30am from the Station St side of the train station. In the parking bays opposite First Church Of Christ Scientist Ringwood 26 Station St, Ringwood VIC 3134.

We strongly recommend having air ambulance cover for this run and all trail runs, due to costs and difficult of access in the remote terrains.
